The Robert Owens Historical sign installation ceremony will be held on June 19, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. We will meet no later than 8:45 a.m. at the JPL Riparian parking lot and hike together to the El Prieto Trail Head. The hike is about 1/2 mile uphill. The hike will start promptly at 9:00 a.m. Hiking boots or outdoor shoes with traction soles are recommended. The trail is not suitable for those who require special accommodations.

Juneteenth 2023: Altadena Historical Society and Mountain View Mortuary Invite You to a Community Luncheon

The Altadena Historical Society (AHS) and Mountain View Mortuary are hosting a community celebration to commemorate Juneteenth in the spirit of Ellen Garrison Clark.
You are cordially invited to be a part of the historic celebration, Monday, June 19, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the William D. Davies Memorial Building in Farnsworth Park (568 Mount Curve Ave., Altadena). Lunch costs $20, and you can buy tickets here.
AHS and Mountain View Mortuary will award two $1,000 Ellen Garrison Clark scholarships to John Muir High School graduating seniors at the luncheon, and the artwork of the late Altadena artist Jean Lanier will be on display.

The concert starts at 3:00 pm with violin performances from young artist, 13-year-old Brennan Wuchner. There will be a Live Painting by Beth Benson, making art that responds to the music throughout the concert performed by musicians Irina Voloshina, Shawn Mann, Evgeny Tonkha, and Ina Veli. Attendees will also enjoy an art exhibition featuring paintings by artists, Lisa Rasmussen, Laurel Antur, and Larisa Pilinsky.
