The Altadena Library District (all locations) will be closed on Monday, September 7, for Labor Day.

We Offer Passport Services in Altadena
 
Altadena Library offers passport services. Our experienced authorized agents are bilingual (English/Spanish). They process the DS-11 application only.
 
We provide services 7 days a week:
  • Mon-Fri: 9am-5pm/Appointment Only @ Altadena Community Center
  • Sat-Sun: 9am-5pm/Appointment & Walk-Ins @ Bob Lucas Memorial Library

Reserve a Room at Bob Lucas Library! 
 
Meeting rooms (maximum capacity either 3 or 8 people) are available for use by patrons who have a valid library card and are 13 years or older. Room reservations can be made up to 7 days in advance, and you can reserve for two (2) hours maximum per day.

English Classes (English as a Second Language)

Build your English fluency to help work through everyday situations. Our casual, small group sessions are designed for adult beginning English learners. Classes are free and in person. To sign up, call (626) 798-0833 x 102.

Now we will be visiting MonteCedro the first Tuesday afternoon (don't worry, you can still see us at Fair Oaks Burger the rest of the month). Also, our Webster's Community Pharmacy stop has moved to Thursday morning.

Saved by a Story: Altadena Wildfire Survivor Writing Group

Join Saved by a Story's free, prompt-driven community writing group for survivors of the Eaton Fire.
 
Come together in community to write about the cherished places we have been, what we have lost (and found), and how we will chart a way forward. Ignite your creativity, share your stories, and find connection in this non-judgmental and creative environment.
Please arrive 5 or 10 minutes early to get settled, as we start the group promptly at 1pm. Bring a notebook (nothing fancy) and a pen.
 
Saved by a Story is a non-profit that hosts free community writing workshops for under-resourced and under-served populations to empower voices and build connection.

3D Print a Custom Fidget Clicker!

Altadena Library Fab Lab at Loma Alta Park

 
De-stress in style by learning how to 3D print and assemble a custom fidget clicker in this beginner friendly workshop! Registration is required. Supplies will be provided and no 3D printing experience is needed.
 
The Altadena Library Fab Lab is located in the classroom in the Loma Alta Park Gymnasium. To access the Fab Lab, enter the patio on the south side of the Gymnasium building (closest to the parking lot) and use the 3rd exterior door to the left, following the sign for the Altadena Library Fab Lab. 
 
Please note that the Fab Lab will only be open for studio hours from 2–4pm due to the workshop.

Silent Reading Party

ALD Teens x Remainders Screen Printing

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, learn the fundamentals of screen printing from Jenny Lounibos using handmade themed screens constructed from upcycled fabric and embroidery hoops.
 
This session introduces stencil-based printing and repeating imagery while keeping the process approachable and tactile. The focus is on experimentation rather than precision, making screen printing accessible, flexible, and fun. Registration required.
