The Altadena Library District (all locations) will be closed on Monday, September 7, for Labor Day.
 
Our Fab Lab is closed on Saturday, August 8. Workshops impact studio hours; view our online calendar for details.

Become An Altadena Library Board of Trustees Candidate!
Deadline to file: Friday, August 7
 
Two seats are up for election this November — Area 3 & 4.  We encourage you to run so you can help us support Altadena, which we’ve been doing for a century.
 
To be eligible to serve on our Board, you must be:    
  • at least 18 years old,    
  • registered to vote,     
  • and a resident of an Altadena area with an open seat.

Important Dates
  • Friday, August 7, 2026, 5 p.m.  Deadline for candidates to file nomination documents and submit candidate statements   
  • Wednesday, August 12, 2026, 5 p.m. Nomination extension deadline if no nomination  documents received by August 7, 2026, 5:00 p.m.   
  • Tuesday, November 3, 2026 Election Day

You Can Still Sign Up for Camp Altadena Library Summer Challenge

You can still sign up for our summer challenge! Once registered, you’ll log a combination of reading minutes and completing tasks and earn prizes along the way. Prizes are available (while supplies last) until August 15, 2026.

Free Summer Lunch (Ages 18 & under)
Monday-Friday, Until August 7 • 12-1pm 
Loma Alta Park (Covered picnic tables)
 
Youth ages 18 and under receive a nutritious lunch that includes vegetables, fruits, and other healthy foods. The program aims to provide a healthy alternative for students when school is out.

We Offer Passport Services in Altadena
 
Altadena Library offers passport services. Our experienced authorized agents are bilingual (English/Spanish). They process the DS-11 application only.
 
We provide services 7 days a week:
  • Mon-Fri: 9am-5pm/Appointment Only @ Altadena Community Center
  • Sat-Sun: 9am-5pm/Appointment & Walk-Ins @ Bob Lucas Memorial Library

Reserve a Room at Bob Lucas Library! 
 
Meeting rooms (maximum capacity either 3 or 8 people) are available for use by patrons who have a valid library card and are 13 years or older. Room reservations can be made up to 7 days in advance, and you can reserve for two (2) hours maximum per day.

Summer Clothing Swap Rack Runs Until Aug. 8
Altadena Library at Loma Alta Park

This summer our satellite location at Loma Alta Park is housing a clothing rack for a community clothes swap (adult sizes only)! Participants can contribute their clothes and take clothes left by others. 
  • Each person may only contribute three items
  • Each person may only take five items
  • All items must be gently used and clean
  • Items must be donated at the satellite library location at Loma Alta Park 
  • You do NOT have to donate items to take items
  • All items are FREE

Bilingual Sound Bath for Children & Teens
Tuesday, August 4 • 11am-12pm
Loma Alta Park Gymnasium

Join us for a special Bilingual Sound Bath for Children & Teens, led by Raising Mami Alchemy.
 
This program is open to two age groups: children and teens ages 6-11 and ages 12-18. Parents and caregivers are welcome to attend. While mats will be provided, we encourage you to bring your own yoga mat, cushions, or blankets to ensure comfort.
 
Lunch at the Library is a project of the California State Library, supported with funds from the State of California.

Camp Altadena Library Summer Challenge Finale Party
Saturday, August 8 • 10am-1pm
Lower Loma Alta Park, Bronco Pavilion 

 
Our day begins at 10am with activities such as tote bag decorating, face painting, button making, and a Scavenger Hunt activity with prizes for the first 50 people to complete the hunt.
 
From 11am-1pm, we will have a photo booth & the Kona Ice Truck will be on site for purchase!
 
To cap off the day, join us from 12-1pm for farewell to summer BBQ hosted by the Altadena Library Foundation and Altadena Rotary. We will have hot dogs (gluten-free & vegan options available), snacks & a drink.
 
We hope to see you all there to mark the end of another successful Summer challenge.
