CalAssist Mortgage Fund Expands Eligibility to Homeowners with Multiple Properties |
What's New:
- Homeowners with multiple properties (including commercial and residential) may now qualify for assistance for their primary residence.
- Homeowners with a HELOC (and no primary mortgage ahead of the HELOC) may also be eligible.
- Eligible homeowners can receive up to 12 months of mortgage payments, paid directly to their mortgage servicer.
- Assistance is available whether you are current on your mortgage, in forbearance, or behind on payments.
- Income limits have increased. For Los Angeles County, the current income limit is $285,400.
We encourage homeowners to apply immediately as funds are limited, and applications
are reviewed in the order received. Applying is free, and funds never have to be repaid.

Fueling Emerging Entrepreneurs Application Open/ Deadline: 11:59pm July 31, 2026 |
Fueling Emerging Entrepreneurs is a grant initiative developed by LISC LA in partnership with BMO, designed to support the growth, resilience, and sustainability of small businesses across Los Angeles County. The program focuses on entrepreneurs located in under-resourced communities, especially those who have historically faced barriers to accessing capital, and aims to increase their ability to grow, compete, and contribute to local economic ecosystems.
The application requires all applicants to upload a business plan as well as a 60 second pitch video. We advise that these assets be created before starting the application process.

LA Rise & Renew Wildfire Recovery Grant Program for Small Businesses |
LISC LA and BMO have launched the LA Rise & Renew Wildfire Recovery Grant Program. In response to the devastating January 2025 wildfires that severely impacted neighborhoods across Los Angeles County
The program will provide unrestricted $5,000 micro-grants to businesses with annual revenues under $2 million that were directly impacted by the fires. Participants will also receive targeted technical assistance through webinars and one-on-one advising to strengthen recovery and long-term resilience.

FEMA Deadline Extended!
Free Legal Support to Help with FEMA Appeals |
Under approval received today, FEMA has extended the Individuals and Households Program (IHP) financial housing assistance period for eligible homeowners through July 9, 2027. FEMA also approved a three-month extension for eligible renters through October 9, 2026.

SBA Disaster Loan Disbursement Extended |
Approved SBA Home and Business Physical Disaster Loan borrowers now have 24 months from the date of their loan authorization agreement to access their funds, replacing the previous June 30, 2026 disbursement deadline.
The extension applies only to borrowers who were already approved. Those who missed the original application deadline may request late acceptance, but approval is discretionary and not guaranteed.

USDA Rural Development Announces $3 Million in Disaster Aid Grants for Homeowners Affected by the Eaton Fire in Los Angeles County |
On May 6, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development announced $3 million in Disaster Assistance Grants via USDA’s Section 504 Single Family Housing Repair Program to support homeowners affected by the Eaton Fire in Los Angeles County.
Homeowners affected by the Eaton Fire in Los Angeles may be eligible for grants of up to $32,420 per household for essential home repairs, including disaster-related damage, restoring habitability, and supporting necessary site preparation and cleanup activities.

Door of Hope is offering transitional housing support for Eaton Fire survivors.
Eligibility:
- Lost your home in the Eaton Fire
- Have a child age 17 or younger living with you
- Household meets HUD low-income guidelines

USHS Eaton Fire Housing Assistance Program |
Union Station Homeless Services is offering financial assistance for households that have been directly impacted by the Eaton Fire.
Assistance is available in various forms depending on the need of the household and ranges from one-time financial assistance (e.g. security deposit, rental payment, rental arrears, etc.), motel vouchers, or rental assistance for households that need more than one month of assistance while recovering from the devastation of the fire.

Disaster Case Management and Other Wildfire Resources Available at the Hub |
The Hub offers free one-on-one support for people impacted by the wildfires. Staff and partners can help residents sign up for case management, connect to resources, apply for assistance, understand the rebuilding process, and navigate steps like permits, insurance, contractors, financing, and rebuilding plans.

The Accelerator Fund provides grants of up to $10,000.
This fund helps Palisades, Malibu and Eaton Canyon homeowners impacted by the wildfires overcome obstacles and move forward with their repair or rebuilding process. The accelerator fund is not a loan and does not need to be repaid.

Become a Tree Steward for Altadena |
Altadena WILD, along with Altadena Green, the CSUN Urban Forestry Project, and Outward Bound Adventures, is launching phase two of the ReGreen Altadena initiative. Building off the success of the initial tree give-away in fall 2025, we are laying the groundwork for a long-term program of educational workshops coupled with tree-giveways. Those who become Altadena Tree Stewards will receive trees and make a commitment to nurturing them into maturity by attending a workshop on tree selection and another on tree planting and care. Workshops will begin early this summer 2026 and tree give-aways will be held this fall through early spring 2027, and continue in subsequent years during the same time period.

Share Your Experience After the 2025 Los Angeles Fires |
Researchers from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and Climate Mental Health Network are conducting a study to better understand how the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires have affected students, families, and educators, and how schools and communities can support emotional wellbeing and recovery during and after disasters.
They are inviting parents, educators, and students (ages 14–17) who were impacted by the wildfires to participate in a virtual focus group discussion. Participation is voluntary.

Community Resilience Survey for Altadena & Pasadena Residents and Small Business Owners |
ABC is working with local organizations to support residents and small businesses in Altadena and Pasadena affected by recent wildfires. Your experiences are vital to helping us understand what the community needs to recover and build resilience for the future.
This survey is completely voluntary and should take about 5-10 minutes to complete. Your responses will be kept confidential and will only be used to guide recovery efforts and access public funding for our community.
