Dear Edison: Keep Eaton Fire Families Housed
A historic civic coalition, led by the Eaton Fire Survivors Network, the Eaton Fire Collaborative Leadership Council, the Clergy Community Coalition and the Altadena Town Council, is calling on Edison to front urgent housing relief — an advance, not new money — so families can stay housed until they can get back home.

EFRU Wildfire Recovery: Indoor Contamination
If you found ash anywhere on your property after the Eaton Fire, the inside of your home was likely contaminated by extremely toxic contamination. Even if you wiped up all the ash yourself or had someone clean it up months ago, hazardous contamination can be invisible and still be in your home. You will want to get your home tested for lead and TEM asbestos, which will inform what kind of remediation you should have done.

Altadena Poets Laureate: New Year, New Myths Poetry Workshop w/Elline Lipkin
Saturday, Jan. 10 • 11am-1pm
LOCATION UPDATE: Now at Bob Lucas Library, 2659 Lincoln
In this workshop we will think about the myths that surround the new year: fresh starts, blank slates, new beginnings. We will experiment with a variety of prompts to write about these concepts, while holding the idea that the 'ideal' year we plan might not be the reality that we meet.

Drawing from fairy tales and myths, we will write our own versions in which the imagined meets with contemporary life, the unexpected, and the unknown.

Please bring a notebook and a pen if you can; otherwise, we will provide paper and writing utensils for you.

Altadena Revealed Lecture Series - Itinerant Craftsman: Lessons from the Duntley-Blackburn Residence
Friday, Jan. 30 • 7-8:30pm
Altadena Main Library, 600 E Mariposa
In 1910 a grand Craftsman-style home was built for realtor G.M. Duntley. By 2025 the building was slated for demolition, but was ultimately saved and relocated from Los Feliz to a fire-ravaged plot in Altadena. The house had been saved once before, by owner Alice Blackburn who threw a huge party in the house the night it moved from East Hollywood to make way for the Hollywood Freeway. Although the party was unusual, at the time it was common practice to transport and reuse threatened buildings. It's time to revive this building relocation tradition at scale — a process that will require revised historic ordinances, streamlined permitting, and regular coordination among local governments.
