Altadena Library and Altadena Library Foundation Connected Wellness Campaign to Provide Eaton Fire Survivors with Hotspots
The Altadena Library has partnered with the Altadena Library Foundation and the Los Angeles County Library and its foundation to raise funds to offer eligible households hotspots with 14 months of pre-paid service from T-Mobile. If you'd like to donate to this campaign, go to

Rotary Club of Altadena Grant Application Open
First Deadline: March 31, 2025
The Rotary Club of Altadena is now accepting Altadena fire relief grant applications.
 
The Altadena Rotary fire relief grants will support community projects that benefit Altadena residents, businesses, services, and charities affected by the Eaton Fire. Applications will be considered and prioritized on the basis of need and impact. 
 
Grant applications must be completed by not-for-profit 501(c) organizations only. Organizations may sponsor projects by individuals, businesses, or units of government. Grant projects must be intended for and completed within the unincorporated area of Altadena. 
 
Grants are available between $500 and $5,000. Matching funds are encouraged but not required. Funding for a purpose that is part of a larger project is acceptable. Grants will be considered on a rolling basis quarterly with deadlines of March 31, June 30, September 30 and December 31, 2025.

Introducing the Eaton Fire Collaborative: A United Effort for Recovery & Rebuilding 
The Eaton Fire Collaborative has come together to support the rebuilding and recovery of our community. This unified effort brings together community groups, local nonprofits, city, county, and state officials dedicated to helping those affected. Our mission is to provide a coordinated response and clear communication to ensure that resources, assistance, and information reach the people and organizations that need them most. How We Are Helping:
  • Trusted Resource Hub – A newly launched collaborative website serving as a vetted, go-to sourcefor vital recovery information.
  • Master Calendar & Donation Distribution & Events– A centralized system to streamline events, donation efforts, and essential forms.
  • Eaton Fire Volunteer Hub – A platform where organizations can organize volunteer support, and individuals can sign up for opportunities to make a meaningful impact.
  • Efficient Coordination – Working to prevent duplication of efforts, reduce strain on government resources, and address logistical concerns such as traffic and waste management.
  • Establishing Long Term Recovery Structure - a unified plan that gathers the knowledge and resources to comprehensively support residents and businesses throughout the recovery process and makes rebuilding a greater possibility for all.

AI & Digital Senior Scam Prevention

With a background in mechanical engineering and management, he transitioned into the home care industry driven by personal experience. Under his leadership, New Wave Home Care focuses on providing high-quality, personalized care services to seniors and individuals with disabilities, emphasizing compassion and professionalism.

In “Her Traveling Shoes,” Ina Buckner-Barnett shares true stories of courageous Black women who spoke up and travelled for love, adventure, fame and fortune. This presentation features the stories of poet Amanda Gorman, pilot Bessie Coleman and athlete Wilma Rudolf.
 
Ina Buckner-Barnette, The Sunshine Storyteller, fills each show with an exciting and often humorous mix of participatory international folktales, movement activities, songs, poetry and personal stories. Positive, character-building stories with an interactive twist are her trademark. And most folks go home still waving their arms or humming a tune after her performances. 
Seeing Stars: Make Your Own Telescope Model

Altadena Main Library, 600 E. Mariposa 
We owe so many scientific discoveries about outer space to one key instrument: the telescope! Come meet Solar System Ambassador Kelly Christopher and learn about different telescopes and figures, including the fantastic Hubble telescope and Dr. Nancy Grace Roman, otherwise known as “the mother of Hubble.” Together with Kelly Christopher, you will construct your own telescope models to take home! For children 6-11, registration required.

Kelly Christopher is an actor, adventurer, and NASA Solar System Ambassador. As a Solar System Ambassador Volunteer for NASA/JPL, she does public outreach to discuss the missions and science of NASA, as well as many other fun space related topics.

Join us for a 90-minute variety show that directly supports Eaton Fire, survivors, and the artists most in need. This event showcases internationally known artists from the Fire Zone, many of whom lost homes, studios, and instruments in the fire.

  • Culture Shock L.A. - A national Hip-Hop dance organization, with members who have gone on to become America’s Best Dance Crew winners and Vegas favorites Jabbawockeez, World of Dance winners Kinjas, and many more.
  • The Altadena Music Theatre - Known for bringing high-quality musicals to Altadena’s Farnsworth Park.
  • Joe Monti - Known by Magicians as the top of their industry, former Magic Castle Board Member and Magic Producer for Criss Angel’s Mindfreak.
  • Melodia Mariposa, led by internationally known violinist Irina Voloshina, brings high-caliber classical music to Altadena.
  • Evan Marshall & Friends – Known internationally as the master of the Mandolin.

Khentrul Lodrö T’hayé Rinpoche: Finding Joy in Troubled Times

With so much discontent and so many displaced by firess, please join us for an event with Rinpoche as he explores the potential and power of our mind when facing challenging times, from a wisdom that has been passed down from teacher to student for centuries.

Khentrul Lodrö T’hayé Rinpoche is the abbot of monastery in Tibet and oversees mediation groups across North America, Australia, and South Africa. Since 2002 Rinpoche has traveled year-round teaching seminars and leading retreats. During the COVID pandemic, Rinpoche held online retreats for his students around the globe. Khentrul Rinpoche is one of the only monks in the world with three khenpo degrees — the equivalent of three Ph.Ds in Buddhist philosophy. May of his students have nicknamed him “the mind training Khenpo” for his passion for teaching mind training practices.
We Love LA Concert for Altadena Residents & First Responders

Our friends at the Hollywood Bowl are hosting a special concert for Altadena residents and first responders to bring some respite and joy through live music. The concert will be on April 1 at 8 p.m. and will feature music from Harry Potter, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, and more. Gerald Clayton, a six-time Grammy-nominated pianist raised in Altadena, will perform Gershwin’s “I Got Rhythm.”

Open to ages 5-15, students will learn about art, design, and engineering by building wooden projects using only raw materials, hand tools, and imagination. Our classroom(s) all have individual adjustable workbenches equipped with everything needed to create a multitude of woodworking projects. Professional teaching artists will guide students in creative problem-solving and using tools safely, effectively, and confidently on their own.
