Apply to be the Next Altadena Library Fab Lab Artist in Residence!
Applications Accepted Oct. 1 to Nov. 30

Our Fab Lab Artist-in-Residence program connects library users with local artists for a season-long residency. Resident artists work with our Fab Lab staff to develop workshops, nurture curiosity, and foster creativity. As an artist in residence, you will provide open hours to the public, provide inclusive programming, and use our Fab Lab as a studio. You’ll also develop a final, summative experience that highlights our community’s creative work made during your residency.

We welcome artists and makers from any discipline to apply for the residency. We encourage artists from diverse and marginalized backgrounds to apply. Though experience facilitating programs is desired, it is not required and will not prevent your application from being considered. Likewise, requesting assistance completing the application will not keep it from consideration.

For more information and to apply, visit https://www.altadenalibrary.org/fablab-artist/.

Fab Lab Presents: Momentum Creative Universal Design Lecture

Momentum Creative, operated by Momentum, is at the intersection of personal expression and independence. Through innovative supports and resources, individuals have the freedom and flexibility they need to produce, market, and sell their work. Momentum Creative features artists using Momentum services, Los Angeles area artists, and invited guests from all over the world.

Momentum is passionate about empowering children and adults with disabilities and medical conditions and providing a lifespan of services to cultivate freedom of choice and self-expression. This vigorous community of working artists includes people with a variety of physical and developmental challenges such as autism, cerebral palsy, and down syndrome, whose perspective is vital within the contemporary art world. Momentum is committed to the development of new platforms for artists, particularly those with extraordinarily unique methods, to structure their personal practice and empower authentic self-expression.

Many of the distinctive processes utilized by featured artists are enabled by original art tools designed and fabricated in-studio to optimize individual dexterity and control. A mantra amongst artists in the studio is that creative expression is not bound by physicality; rather, it is defined by the will to innovate. Innovative Studios: The NEW Modern Art, presents the work of 15 emerging and established artists that you have to see! Check out the exhibition through Oct. 29!
