The Altadena Libraries will be closed Saturday, Dec. 30 and Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, for New Year's Day.

Bob Lucas Library: L.A. County Planning Notice of Hearing 

The Los Angeles County Hearing Officer will conduct a public hearing to consider the Bob Lucas Library Expansion & Renovation. A presentation and overview of the project (PRJ2022-002608-(5)) will be given, and any interested person or authorized agent may appear and comment on the project at the hearing. The Hearing Officer will then consider to approve or deny the project or continue the hearing if it deems necessary. Should you attend, you will have an opportunity to testify, or you can submit written comments to the planner below or at the public hearing. If the final decision on this proposal is challenged in court, testimony may be limited to issues raised before or at the public hearing

Kick Off the New Year with Altadena Libraries! Do you know that you can...

  • Use your library card 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to borrow, browse, pick up and return books and other materials...all free...from our Library Materials Vending Machines at Prime Pizza in Altadena and at the Main Library (we're searching for a permanent home for it in west Altadena).

  • Check out everything from puppetry kits to musical instruments to a metal detector from our Library of Things. Just search our catalog for Library of Things at catalog.altadenalibrary.org.
  • Register for Self-Service Extended Access (if you are an Altadena Library cardholder with Good Neighbor account status) for use of the Main Library BEFORE WE OPEN from 8 to 10 a.m., Monday through Friday. Find out more about this service and apply for access, at www.altadenalibrary.org/extendedaccess.

 

We also offer a Homebound Delivery Service, where we deliver library materials to the homes of eligible Altadena residents. To learn about eligibility or to request the service, go to altadenalibrary.org/homebound.

Sewing Workshop

Learn how to sew a drawstring backpack from designer Amy Blea. We will be learning the basics of machine sewing and finish with sewing a super cute backpack!

Murder Mystery: Murder on Misty Island

A quick switch from The Big Chill to A Tan and Sandy Silence. This class reunion lacked class and reunion. Eight loving “friends” arrived on their college housemother’s island for some rest and relaxation. Twelve hours later, Stephanie Stephens was dead, and they were suspects in her murder. No escape, no assistance, no TV. Solve the murder of attorney Stephanie Stephens before these college chums get you.
